One of the jobs that we have completed during the week was a huge wedding photo print on canvas. It was 5 feet (1.6 meter) in length. The photo style is modern, clean and simple. Therefore, a stretcher is good without any frame to allow the photo to stand out by itself.
Talking about stretched canvas, there are plenty of ways to present it distinctively.
One of the popular choice is to install the stretched canvas on a ‘L’ shaped frame and leaving a little gap between the canvas and the frame just to show the edges show. This sometime makes a small canvas painting looks rigid and complete.
Another interest way, is to install the canvas painting on a platform / base with a matching frame. As shown in the picture below, the painting is installed on a metal base which is then framed with a raw wood moulding. This method is good to let the painting to have a ‘stage’ to present on.
Although most painting on canvas are preferred not to be framed under glass to admire its strokes and texture. But in some cases, when extra care is required to preserve the painting, we may need to frame the painting in a box frame under glass. Hence, environmental harm such as UV light, air pollution, humidity and etc. can be reduced or avoided. Photo below shown a stretched canvas in a contemporary box frame.
Beside methods shown here, there are plenty of other methods that we could work on. Please stay tune.
Hope everyone have a productive week ahead! Cheers …
